This paper aims to describe the eTwinning Teacher Training Institutes Pilot (TTI)1experiment during academic year 2014/15 with 550 undergraduate students from first and second year of Educational Technologies degree courses. The research was given start with the purpose of preparing tomorrow's teachers for a future where the use of ICT and is in everyday teaching, to promote their digital skills and communication skills, and their use of English as a foreign language within a cross-cultural context. Maģistra darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, vai Latvijas vispārējā izglītības sistēmā pastāv profesionālās mācīšanās kopienas un, ja šādas kopienas pastāv, tad noskaidrot, kā tās tiek organizētas. Pētījuma teorētisko ietvaru veido I. Illiča sabiedrības “atskološanas” koncepts, kā arī mācīšanas un mācīšanās funkcijas. Virtual communities (VCs) have become essential in current organizations and society, and so their sustainability is a topic of interest for researchers and practitioners. We focus on the sense of virtual community (SoVC) and commitment as relevant antecedents in achieving the success and maintenance of different types of VCs (communities of interest, virtual learning communities, and virtual communities of practice).
